Courtney - No Escape (concept shoot) : Wanting to practice some creative lighting techniques, I was fortunate to have Courtney contact me for a shoot. I decided to do a visual story, Courtney playing both the victim and pursuer in a short but dark story. The cold blue cast was created using camera white balance settings, and the warmer skin tone was achieved by placing a warming filter over the flash head and aimed through a tight grid-spot.

Carryn - The New Hairstyle : Carryn waltzed in with a brand new hairstyle worthy of an on-the-spot photoshoot. Out came my shoot-through brolly and SB800 flash and the black side of my reflector dish as a make-shift backdrop. The brolly was placed a couple of feet away from Carryn to camera left and high, creating dramatic shadow areas while still providing soft light. I've decided to process a few quite dark just to add something different to my portfolio.

Workshop 25 July 2009 : I invited some local amateur photographers (and Mark Hamilton) and amateur models to get together for an informal workshop to practice 'shooting people' using different light options around the botanical gardens and then Vestey's Beach.
